Welcome To Success In Schools
Specialist Training and Consultancy Services
S uccess In Schools is a specialist safeguarding and child protection training and consultancy company. We work predominantly with schools, in the state and independent sector, and with other groups and companies who work with children, including out-of-school care and the tourism industry who provide activities for children and young people. We have particular experience in supporting the needs of special schools and children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) of all kinds.
We provide open training courses at venues across the UK and bespoke training can be set up for individual schools and companies. Bespoke training can be especially cost effective for larger groups or when new organisations are being set up.
Our consultancy service audits a school or company’s existing policies and procedures. The consultant then prepares a report in a easy to digest format that grades the issues by a traffic light system – green, amber and red. The consultancy service can prepare action plans and support organisations to write their own policies and practical procedures to ensure that children are kept safe. Success In Schools aims to develop a strong relationship with organisations, so that we are able to offer continuing support in all safeguarding-related activities. Service Level Agreements are available to facilitate safeguarding services on a cost-effective basis.
For example, ensuring that unsuitable people are prevented from working with children is safeguarding, whilst an a child protection activity would be holding an ‘Initial Child Protection Conference’.
In 2010 the Department for Education published a statutory document ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’. Chapter 4 of the document separates all members of the children’s workforce into eight groups by the role they fulfil.
Success In Schools provides off-the-peg training for the following groups of staff:
- Group 1 Staff who have infrequent contact with children and young people, eg. receptionists, ground staff
- Group 2 Staff who have regular contact with children and young people, eg. nursery workers, teachers, teaching assistants, youth workers
- Group 3 Staff who contribute to the safeguarding of children and young people, eg. senior teachers, managers
- Group 5 Staff who have designated responsibility for safeguarding children and young people, eg. Designated Person (DP) or Nominated Safeguarding Children’s Advisors (NSCA)
All staff in these categories must receive appropriate refresher training every three years.
